What is it called?

well i wanna cure disease's.I do not wanna be i the room with the patient,I want to be in a lab looking in a microscope and looking at a cell and try experiments to help kids and adults with diabetes or lukemia or other disease's.Would it be called a biology researcher?i can not find anything on the internet,im a sophmore and in 2 months I get to go to a Jr.college and see if i want to go there and i do not want to tell them the wrong job that i want to do.
