How does the French Revolution's failures show what is needed for democracy?

Hi, im writing a paper on how the French showed what is needed for a democracy. So far, i have a stable government, because there were many monarchs that grew corrupt and mad with power and an educated workforce, because the people voted blindly for Napolean (who was popular at the time) but were unaware that he was leaning towards a dictatorship.
