I'm in love with this guy but I'm too scared to tell him should I let it go or pursue to the end?

I'm so in love with this guy I met a year ago. Weve been friends but he lives far away from me and thats the start of the problem. I really feel he is my soul mate, I've never met a guy I like/admire so much before. but I've.never discussed this with him. For sure he feels something for me..he mentioned falling for me one time but he had taken drinks. Also hes younger....much younger and this may deter him.. I really want to fight for him til the end...like keep in contact like a friend and hopefully win him in the end. What do you all think? Oh, we did get together once..it was lovely but a bit strange as we had to return to our own homes the next day..and he kind of acted like nothing had happened which hurt me a bit. We are both single without kids.
