I'm sure he was probably being truthful when he said he wasn't into it because he was sick. If he calls you and texts you a lot then he is obviously interested. I would say that men generally tend to be more straightforward and say what they mean. My advice is to take it for what it was. I doubt he was trying to send you mixed signals, and it probably really was just because he's sick. Don't worry about it and have fun!
