Under powering door speakers?

Is it possible to under power door speakers? My HU puts out 17 watts rms x 4 channels. Most of the aftermarket speakers I have been looking at are capable of having 100 rms. I have recently found out that under powering a sub with an amp is bad. So would door speakers be the same?
