Why won't my dog eat normally?

I have had my dog Sadie for a while now and she has this odd habit of eating that I have never seen a dog do before. She will take a bite of food and run into the living room with it, drop it on our runner carpet, then eat it. She will repeat this process for a while then just finish the rest of her food normally. Whats up with that?
